Brief entries record his daily life and social activities, including day trips and visits with friends, particularly John Ward and other members of the Ward family, notes on fellow alumnae of Columbia Law School, deaths, births and marriages of friends and family mambers, parties, dinners, balls, etc. Volumes 1860 Jan.-1862 June are evidently copies of original Meade diaries created by John Ward.
